Davidson, SK – Western Sales, a leader in agricultural innovation, is thrilled to launch a precision agriculture projection a quarter section of land in the Town of Davidson, utilizing John Deere’s cutting-edge technologies. This initiative not only highlights innovative farming technologies but also serves dual purposes: raising funds for the Kinsmen organization and empowering farmers with data-driven insights. Over the years the project has raised approximately $556,109.40
Join us in supporting Kinsmen's mission to enhance community welfare. By leveraging Deere's precision tools, the project aims to maximize crop yields and efficiency, ensuring significant contributions to an amazing charity. The secondary objective is to demonstrate the power of data analytics through Deere’s Operation Center, enabling our customers to optimize operations, reduce costs, and boost productivity.
The project has made significant strides, completing key stages including:
- Pre-burn application of Roundup using a John Deere 4045R Sprayer
- Seeding with the John Deere C850 equipped with AccuRate and 640RX using prescription seeding and fertilizing
- Post-emergence herbicide application with Traxos/OnDeck via a John Deere 616R Sprayer
These operations showcase a suite of advanced technologies, including the Operation Center for real-time data management, Auto Path Boundary for precise field navigation, and ExactApply for targeted spraying to minimize waste and reduce costs. Additional tools like SF-RTK for1-inch GPS accuracy, Mobile Weather Station for real-time weather insights, and BoomTrac Pro 2 for uniform application ensure operational efficiency. The project also implemented ATTA (Sprayer Full Turn Automation) and Harvest Profit analytics, highlighting the role of automation in modern farming.
“We constantly get asked, ‘When is full autonomy coming to the field?' We can say for a fact that it is here, not five years, not a year, or a month, it’s right in front of us today," said Greg Carlson, a Precision Ag Expert. “A project like this demonstrates how precision agriculture can transform farming. By integrating real-time data and automation, they’re not only improving yields but also setting a model for sustainable, community-focused agriculture.”
We invite you to follow our journey as the project progresses. The project’s use of customized seeding and fertilizer prescriptions further optimizes crop performance, potentially increasing profitability for farmers adopting similar technologies.
With the evolving landscape of agriculture, where data-driven decisions and automation are becoming standard, we are excited to share our progress. The company plans to continue sharing updates as the project progresses, with harvest data expected to provide further insights into cost savings and yield improvements. “With farm practices changing year over year, we at Western Sales are eagerly preparing for the future and what it has to bring to the farming world.”
The project not only underscores Western Sales' commitment to innovation but also strengthens the community through its dual purpose of farming advancement and community support.
Projects like this take a community and we would like the thank the Davidson Kinsmen Club and for their members continued support.
